Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be raised about his position after a further heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, marking the club's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received significant support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points of course but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented familiar weaknesses from his team in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a period of this nature with results so bad.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, prove again the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
